Basketball Recap: Shields Panthers vs. Red Level Tigers

The Shields Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight defeat. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 71-46 walloping at the hands of Red Level. Shields has struggled against the Tigers recently, as their match on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Shields lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cantangelo Hicks, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Hicks hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Adrian Watts was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds.

Javen Poindexter was his usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 37 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists for Red Level. That makes it 16 consecutive games in which Poindexter has scored at least a third of Red Level's points.

Shields has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Red Level, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing McKenzie the next time they take the court. Shields will head out to face the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Tigers will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
