Basketball Recap: Roswell Hornets vs. Johns Creek Gladiators
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Milton, Roswell was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They took down the Johns Creek Gladiators 53-37. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 42-38 back in December of 2024.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Roswell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Eve Buckley, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Buckley has scored at least a third of Roswell's points. Alex Gonda was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Despite the loss, Johns Creek saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Emily Jackson posted nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Jenkins, who had five points in addition to nine boards and three steals.
Roswell's record now sits at 9-11. As for Johns Creek, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-16.
Roswell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-16 win against Centennial on the 25th. As for Johns Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 74-49 loss against Lanier on the 27th.
