5A District 4 recap Oct. 9, 2012

Coweta was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Tahlequah. The Tigers came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.

East Central extended the longest winning streak in 5A District 4 this week by beating Claremore, 20-19. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.

Central's dynamic duo of DeAngelo Brewer and DJ Daniels proved tough for Collinsville to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Brewer threw for 78 yards and Daniels had 67 yards receiving. Denzel Meadows helped Central's passing attack out by catching two balls for 11 yards.

Carson Smallwood was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 382 yards as Pryor lost to the Cardinals. Teammate Josh Stimsen added to the ground attack by rushing for 11 yards.

Grady Caton made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Zebras fell to East Central. The 6-foot-2 senior racked up 1.0 sack.

Thanks to the talents of Keegan Yates and Smallwood the Tigers have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Yates leads the league in passing with 648 yards, while Smallwood has rushed for 1054 yards this season. Claremore's Caleb Webster leads the league in receiving yards with 409 on 27 catches.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Collinsville takes on Coweta. Kevin Jones' team is in second place, while Bubba Burcham's team is in fourth place.

There should be lots of points scored when Rob Gilbreath's team and Pryor face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Zebras comes in having scored 154 this season, while Jason Freeman's team has scored 177. Claremore scored 19 points last week as it lost to Bobby Klinck's team.
