Soccer Game Preview: Stevenson vs. Palma

The Stevenson Pirates will head out to challenge the Palma Chieftains at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stevenson's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Last Friday, Stevenson and King City finished up their match with a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, Palma kept a clean sheet against Pajaro Valley on Friday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Grizzlies. Given the Chieftains' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 341st, while the Grizzlies are ranked 825th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Palma has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those five games. Stevenson's draw makes their record 3-6-3 this season.

Stevenson beat Palma 2-0 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Will Stevenson repeat their success, or does Palma have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
