Basketball Recap: Eric Wooten Key Part of a Team Effort in Coyotes Win

After losing to Los Osos the last time they met, Orange Vista decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Orange Vista Coyotes walked away with a 56-47 victory over the Los Osos Grizzlies on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Coyotes.

Orange Vista's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eric Wooten, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Wooten has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Washington, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 11 points and five assists.

Orange Vista is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Los Osos, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6.

Orange Vista and Los Osos should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Orange Vista (ranked 199th) will meet Canyon Springs (ranked 506th) at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Orange Vista is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.3 points per game this season. Similarly, Los Osos (ranked 325th) will meet Patriot (ranked 919th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
