Basketball Recap: Somerville Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lynn English, Somerville was happy to have turned things around on Sunday. They had just enough and edged the Peabody Veterans Memorial Tanners out 57-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Highlanders have posted since January 4, 2024.

Somerville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 3-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points per game. As for Peabody Veterans Memorial, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-5.

Somerville won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Medford at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Somerville is facing Medford at the right time seeing as Medford is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Peabody Veterans Memorial, they will square off against Bishop Fenwick at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd.
