The Durham Trojans are taking a road trip to take on the East Nicolaus Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
East Nicolaus will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Durham extended their winning streak to eight on Friday. The Trojans put the hurt on Pierce with a sharp 12-4 win.
LANDON LYNCH was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was MASON CONNER, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
East Nicolaus came out on top against Colusa on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run fifth inning. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the RedHawks. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the RedHawks: they've now won three in a row.
Mikey Miller made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wade Lauppe, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. William Miller was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four RBI and one run.
East Nicolaus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Colusa only posted an OBP of .167.
Durham's record now sits at 23-1. As for East Nicolaus, their record is now 18-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Durham has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like East Nicolaus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Durham's way against East Nicolaus in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as Durham made off with a 12-6 win. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
