Basketball Recap: Newark Takes a Loss

Newark lost against Appoquinimink back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Newark Yellowjackets fell 54-41 to the Appoquinimink Jaguars. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Delaware basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Jaguars are ranked seventh).

This is the second loss in a row for Newark and nudges their season record down to 5-12. As for Appoquinimink, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Looking ahead, Newark will venture away from home to face off against Mount Pleasant at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Appoquinimink, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Jaguars face off against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
