Basketball Recap: Daniel Falls Despite Big Games from Simms Disbrow and Tristyn Carrington

After a string of four wins, Daniel's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 64-52 to the Westside Rams. The Lions were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rams from their previous meeting back in December of 2022.

Despite the loss, Daniel had strong showings from Tristyn Carrington, who went 8 for 17 on his way to 20 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists, and Simms Disbrow, who went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points. Carrington has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Grayson Clary was another key player, putting up two points.

Even though they lost, Daniel smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive games.

Westside got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ricky Hood out in front who went 8 of 12 on his way to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kmajay Jenkins, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

Daniel's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Westside, their record now sits at 12-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Daniel will take on Greer at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Greer's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests. As for Westside, they will square off against Emerald at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Emerald knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Westside likes a good challenge.
