Football Game Preview: Bloomsburg Panthers vs. Southern Columbia Area Tigers

Bloomsburg is 0-8 against Southern Columbia Area since September of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Bloomsburg is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Loyalsock Township as they made off with a 34-13 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Bloomsburg's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jharee Moore-Stewart, who gained 155 total yards and three touchdowns, and Wyatt Brosious, who rushed for 41 yards and two touchdowns. What's more, Moore-Stewart racked up 90 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in September of 2024.

Bloomsburg didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Krue Wheadon and Moore-Stewart. Moore-Stewart got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Southern Columbia Area got the win against Cowanesque Valley on Friday by a conclusive 41-20. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Tigers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Indians are ranked 495th).

Bloomsburg better keep an eye on Brayden Andrews. He was instrumental in Southern Columbia Area's win, rushing for 105 yards and four scores, while also catching one TD. Andrews showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 66 yards. Another back making a difference was Joey Williams, who rushed for 53 yards and one touchdown.

Bloomsburg's record is now 9-2. As for Southern Columbia Area, their record now sits at 10-1.

Bloomsburg was taken down by Southern Columbia Area 61-0 in their previous matchup back in October. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
