Recap: O'Connor Eagles vs. Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions
The O'Connor Eagles entered their tilt with the Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. O'Connor claimed a resounding 53-22 win over Mountain Ridge on the road. Given O'Connor's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Mountain Ridge is ranked 143rd), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
O'Connor's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Thalia Daniels, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The match was Daniels' eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sanjana Karra, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
O'Connor's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Mountain Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
O'Connor will take on Westview in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday at. Westview is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Mountain Ridge will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Deer Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
