Softball Recap: Cape Coral Gets the Win

Cape Coral took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Mariner, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Seahawks had just enough and edged out the Tritons 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Seahawks have posted since February 21, 2025.

Emma Brannan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. Those 15 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Taylor Buice was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. Olivia Tyler was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Cape Coral and bumps their season record up to 2-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Mariner, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Cape Coral will face off against Babcock at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Seahawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trailblazers have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Mariner, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Cypress Lake at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
