Baseball Recap: San Ramon Valley Drops Season-High Score on Dougherty Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask San Ramon Valley). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Dougherty Valley Wildcats a 13-0 shutout on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Wolves with their most commanding win of the season.

Bryce Monte looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). San Ramon Valley is 2-1 when Monte allows three or fewer hits, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, San Ramon Valley let Mitch Nelson and TJ Adlman run wild. Nelson scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Adlman scored three runs while going 2-for-2. Adlman is becoming a predictor of San Ramon Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Lucas Glazier was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

The win got San Ramon Valley back to even at 6-6. As for Dougherty Valley, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
