Recap: Skyline Coyotes vs. Campo Verde Coyotes
On Friday, Skyline took a serious blow against Campo Verde, falling 49-19.
Skyline's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Michael Simcox, who picked up 62 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Jordan Blake, who rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown.
Athan Ferber was on fire for Campo Verde: he rushed for 132 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Andrew Mask was another major influence, as he rushed for 29 yards and ran in a TD.
Skyline has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Campo Verde, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Skyline will take on Gilbert at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Gilbert is ranked 94th, while Skyline is ranked 90th). As for Campo Verde, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McClintock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. McClintock knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Campo Verde likes a good challenge.
