Preview: Calvary Christian Cougars vs. Scott Eagles
Having just played yesterday, the Calvary Christian Cougars will get right back to it and host the Scott Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard on Tuesday.
After soaring to a 45-point victory in their last game, Calvary Christian came back down to earth on Monday. They fell just short of Ludlow by a score of 58-55. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Calvary Christian in their matchups with Ludlow: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Scott, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 77-62 loss to Lloyd Memorial on Friday. While losing is never fun, Scott can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while Lloyd Memorial is ranked 20th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Dylan Giffen, who scored 13 points. AJ Lowe was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Calvary Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Scott, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Calvary Christian was dealt a bruising 77-23 defeat at the hands of Scott in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Calvary Christian was down 47-10.
