Recap: Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns vs. Victory Christian Academy Knights
The Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They snuck past Victory Christian Academy with a 63-58 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Rancho Buena Vista's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cj Aldrich led the charge by scoring 22 points along with three steals. Aldrich has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Lotito, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Derek Edmond, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Jayden Gray, who scored 12 points along with six assists and three steals.
Rancho Buena Vista is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Victory Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rancho Buena Vista will take on Canyon Crest Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Canyon Crest Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 587th, while Rancho Buena Vista is ranked 159th). As for Victory Christian Academy, Victory Christian Academy and Lincoln will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lincoln has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
