With a playoff win on the line, Lakota East rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 59-47 victory over the Oak Hills Highlanders. The win was nothing new for the Thunderhawks as they're now sitting on four straight.
Ryder Hooks had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 195 yards and four scores while picking up 11.5 yards per carry, and also picking up 89 receiving yards and one TD. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 52 yards. Nile Knutson was another key player, throwing for 287 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.
Lakota East didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cole Miranda and Hooks. Another thorn in Oak Hills' side was Dawson Reip, who made 15 total tackles (1.0 for loss).
Lakota East's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Oak Hills, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.
Looking ahead, Lakota East will head out on the road to square off against St. Xavier at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bombers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. Oak Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
