Soccer Game Preview: San Antonio Memorial vs. La Vernia

San Antonio Memorial hasn't had much luck against La Vernia recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The San Antonio Memorial Minutemen will head out on the road to challenge the La Vernia Bears at 7:00 p.m.

San Antonio Memorial fell victim to Gonzales and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 4-0 to the Apaches. While losing is never fun, the Minutemen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 673rd, while the Apaches are ranked 309th).

Meanwhile, La Vernia came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 goals) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Eagles 7-1. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by three goals or more this season.

La Vernia's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. As for San Antonio Memorial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9-1.

San Antonio Memorial suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to La Vernia in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can San Antonio Memorial avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
