Basketball Recap: Rockwood Comes Up Short

Rockwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 43-30 to the Sunbright Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Rockwood of the 51-30 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Sunbright got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cassidy Young out in front who posted 11 points along with five boards and four steals. That's the most points Young has posted since back in January of 2024. Mckenna Smith was another key player, putting up 13 points and five steals.

Rockwood's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Sunbright, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Rockwood Tigers take on the Oliver Springs Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Sunbright, they will welcome Coalfield at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
