Baseball Recap: Goddard Beats Arkansas City for Their Third Straight Win

Nine must be Goddard's lucky number: they beat Arkansas City with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Lions beat the Bulldogs by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 9-1. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Lincoln Jensen made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over 6.2 innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eastyn Vieyra, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Goddard's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 6-14 when he doesn't). Kane Dunlavy was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Goddard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Goddard pushed their record up to 8-15 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.
