Volleyball Game Preview: Godby Cougars vs. St. John Paul II Panthers

The Godby Cougars will face off against the St. John Paul II Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Godby has three straight victories, St. John Paul II has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Godby took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Cottondale, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cougars narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Hornets 3-2.

Godby was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (98-97), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 14-25, 25-22, 25-18, 15-8.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when St. John Paul II took on Altha on Thursday. The Panthers fell 3-1 to the Wildcats.

The final score came out to 25-0, 25-0, 0-25, 25-0.

Godby's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for St. John Paul II, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Godby suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to St. John Paul II in their previous meeting back in August of 2015. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
