Softball Recap: Forest Lake Extends Road Winning Streak to 16

Forest Lake won the last time they faced Irondale and things went their way on Friday too. The Rangers were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Knights. The result was nothing new for the Rangers, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Annika Antonson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Forest Lake got a massive performance out of Karianne Drury, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Olivia Hauer, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Forest Lake hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matchups.

Forest Lake pushed their record up to 15-1 with the win, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average this season. As for Irondale, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-15 record this season.

Forest Lake will square off against Woodbury at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Irondale, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Stillwater at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Ponies will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
