Basketball Preview: Canterbury Cougars vs. Bishop Verot Vikings

The Canterbury Cougars are on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Bishop Verot Vikings on February 6th. Canterbury will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 572nd, while the Vikings are ranked 106th).

Last Tuesday, Canterbury took a serious blow against the Raiders, falling 76-36.

Meanwhile, Bishop Verot entered their tilt with the Celtics with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Bishop Verot secured a 50-45 W over the Celtics on Thursday.

Bishop Verot got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jerry Ashley out in front who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. Ashley has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Leroy Roker, who scored eight points along with five steals.

Canterbury's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Bishop Verot, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-5.

Canterbury took a serious blow against the Vikings when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 70-41. Can Canterbury avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
