Recap: Yerington Lions vs. Pershing County Mustangs
The Yerington Lions struggled with assists on Wednesday (the Pershing County Mustangs had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Yerington fell 38-26 to Pershing County. Yerington has not had much luck with Pershing County recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Defeat or not, Yerington got some senior leadership from Eliyana Berumen who scored four points along with nine rebounds and six steals and Randi Townsend who scored six points along with six rebounds. Berumen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played.
Among those leading the charge was Yasmine McKinney, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. McKinney is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Raegan Burrows, who scored six points along with five steals.
Yerington now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Pershing County, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Yerington will head out on the road to face off against Oasis Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Oasis Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Friday. As for Pershing County, they will be playing at home against North Tahoe at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (North Tahoe: 18.9, Pershing County: 24.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
