League recap: Jones races to league-leading run for Bishop Hartley

Richard Jones of Bishop Hartley ran for the longest rushing play in Central Catholic - Gold this season against Perry Traditional Academy last week. Jones' team defeated the Commodores as he sprinted for 63 yards on the play and finished with 133 in all.

Bishop Ready added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Fisher Catholic, 49-14. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.

Bishop Hartley's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jared Brandewie threw for 115 and 2 touchdowns and Jacob Mercier had 78 yards receiving. On the ground Jones chipped in 133 yards. Alonzo Saxton helped Bishop Hartley's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 23 yards.

Jones was a passing and rushing force as Brad Burchfield's team topped Perry Traditional Academy. Jones' favorite target this week was Mercier, who caught 2 passes for 78 yards.

Jones was the best running back in the league this week. Teammate Sam MacKowiak added to the ground attack by rushing for 116 yards.

Bishop Hartley's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Hawks feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Brandewie has thrown for 647 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Mercier has 18 catches for 443 yards.

The Hawks took down Bill Gallagher's team 62-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Brandewie during the win.
