After a string of five wins, New Hanover's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the South Brunswick Cougars by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-5 back in March.

New Hanover's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for South Brunswick, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-10.

Coming up, New Hanover will be taking part in a tournament against Pinecrest at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.5, the Patriots 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for South Brunswick, they will venture away from home to take on Topsail at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
