Basketball Recap: Hatch Valley Comes Up Short

If Hatch Valley was feeling good fresh off their 69-19 takedown of Animas last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hatch Valley Bears were beaten by the Alamo Navajo Cougars 64-26 on Friday. The Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-12.

Despite the loss, Hatch Valley still got an impressive performance from Alex Dominguez, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Leading Alamo Navajo to victory were Andy Pino and Zephaniah Guerro. Pino dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards, while Guerro dropped a double-double on 13 points and 18 boards. Those ten rebounds gave Pino a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cobre Mexicano, who posted nine points.

Hatch Valley's defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Alamo Navajo, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Hatch Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 71-63 victory against Reserve on the 7th. As for Alamo Navajo, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 64-54 loss against Cliff on the 7th.
