Baseball Game Preview: Avonworth Antelopes vs. East Allegheny Wild Cats

Avonworth is a perfect 3-0 against East Allegheny since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Antelopes will venture away from home to challenge the Wild Cats at 4:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Avonworth is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Plum just ended the team's ten-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 3-1.

Avonworth got a good showing from Jackson Krul, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Krul has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.

Meanwhile, East Allegheny was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against South Allegheny, falling 12-0. Wild Cats fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Gladiators since on Wednesday.

East Allegheny's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Avonworth, they suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 10-2-1.

Avonworth skirted past East Allegheny 5-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Antelopes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
