Baseball Recap: Apache Junction Victorious

Apache Junction's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Metro Tech Knights. The Prospectors haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Decker Castillo made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Castillo was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Apache Junction: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, Austin Bailey was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Conner Trisoliere was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Apache Junction's record is now 3-10. As for Metro Tech, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Apache Junction will head out to challenge Florence at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Metro Tech, they will venture away from home to square off against McClintock at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
