Basketball Recap: Dunbar Takes a Loss

On Wednesday, Dunbar faced Jackson-Reed in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Dunbar Crimson Tide were beaten by the Jackson-Reed Tigers 61-33. The Crimson Tide were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in February.

Jackson-Reed found their leader in sophomore Lane Mahan, who went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 25 points. Josiah Massaquoi was another key player, putting up ten points and eight rebounds.

Dunbar dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Jackson-Reed, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Dunbar wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-50 win against Ballou on the 20th. As for Jackson-Reed, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 91-66 loss against William Penn Charter on the 21st.
