Recap: Lakeside Rams vs. Hot Springs Trojans
On Friday, The Lakeside Rams faced the Hot Springs Trojans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lakeside managed a 31-27 victory over Hot Springs. The win was just what Lakeside needed coming off of a 42-7 defeat in their prior match.
Grady Ohman had a dynamite game for Lakeside, rushing for 182 yards and three touchdowns. Kyler Wolf did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 85 receiving yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Hot Springs lost, one person who can't be blamed is Matthew Contreras. Despite the final result, he rushed for 148 yards while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Contreras was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards.
Lakeside is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Hot Springs, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-2.
Lakeside will take on Harrison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Harrison is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Hot Springs, they will head out on the road to face off against Shiloh Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Shiloh Christian will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
