The San Gorgonio Spartans will take on the Fontana Steelers at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. San Gorgonio is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Two weeks ago, San Gorgonio had just enough and edged out Arroyo Valley 7-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

The team relied heavily on Mylia Laban, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Elizabeth Zamudio was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Fontana came up short against Rancho Verde on Tuesday, falling 9-2.

Fontana saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vivianna Powell, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

San Gorgonio pushed their record up to 5-5-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Fontana, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Everything went San Gorgonio's way against Fontana when the teams last played back in March of 2023, as San Gorgonio made off with a 24-2 win. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Steelers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
