Football Recap: Legacy Longhorns vs. Shadow Ridge Mustangs
Legacy and Shadow Ridge squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Legacy had to settle for second. They fell to the Shadow Ridge Mustangs 35-30. The Longhorns were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October.
Hector Velazquez had a dynamite game for Shadow Ridge, rushing for 123 yards and a touchdown. Velazquez really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run. Tyrell Craven was another key rusher, rushing for 69 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Legacy's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5. As for Shadow Ridge, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.
Legacy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Shadow Ridge, they will venture away from home to face off against Green Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Shadow Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 35.6 points per game this season.
