Floyd Central entered their tilt with New Albany on Friday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They claimed a resounding 42-6 win over the Bulldogs. Given the Highlanders' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 51st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 246th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Floyd Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Luke Jacobi led the charge by picking up 57 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also rushing for 32 yards and two scores. Another passer making a difference was Jack Mull, who threw for 170 yards and three TDs.

Floyd Central's record is now 8-1. As for New Albany, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Floyd Central and New Albany will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Highlanders see the field they'll take on Castle at 6:30 p.m. on the 31st. As for New Albany, their break will end when they face Evansville North at 7:30 p.m. on the 31st.
