Softball Game Preview: Dalton Bulldogs vs. Mapleton Mounties

The Dalton Bulldogs will square off against the Mapleton Mounties at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Dalton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.

Dalton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Rittman 20-4 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Skylar Fletcher made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Fletcher was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lily Teague was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Wenger, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Dalton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Mapleton fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against New London on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 7-6.

Dalton's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Mapleton, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
