Carol City comes up short despite Decurtis Johnson's dominant performance

The Carol City Chiefs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 52-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Miami Beach. While losing is never fun, Carol City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 605th, while Miami Beach is ranked 273rd).

When it comes to explaining why Carol City lost, one person who can't be blamed is Decurtis Johnson. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with five assists and four steals. That's the first time this season that Johnson scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jahquori Lombrage, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.

Carol City dropped their record down to 6-11 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Miami Beach, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carol City on the road again on Monday and play against Dillard at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. As for Miami Beach, they will face off against Miami at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
