Baseball Recap: Moorhead Comes Up Short

Moorhead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Centennial Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spuds of the 5-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Riley Dickhaus was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Moorhead is 3-1 when Dickhaus posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Kvamme, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Moorhead's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Centennial, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Moorhead will head out to challenge St. Michael-Albertville at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Centennial, they will take on Anoka at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
