The Pisgah Dragons are taking a road trip to take on the Mize Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Pisgah is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
Pisgah is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Clarkdale, sneaking past 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Dragons have posted since March 20th.

Alyssa McMurtrey and Ally Young made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, McMurtrey didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Young pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. McMurtrey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, McMurtrey went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Young went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Young has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Audrey Best was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Addi Faulkner, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Pisgah kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive contests.
The home team had won the previous two meetings between Mize and Raleigh, and Mize kept the tradition alive. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 9-3 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 13 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Pisgah's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Mize, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-11 record this season.
Pisgah suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Mize in their previous matchup back in April of 2019. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
