Baseball Recap: Carlsbad's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Carlsbad won the last time they faced Mission Hills and things went their way on Friday too. Carlsbad was the clear victor by a 10-1 margin over Mission Hills. The contest marked the Lancers' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Carlsbad got a great performance from Hunter Dawson as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Dawson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Rob Bering and Ayden Mu?oz did most of the damage at the plate: Bering went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Mu?oz scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those four RBI gave Bering a new career-high. Max Chase also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Carlsbad kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mission Hills only managed two hits.

The win (which was Carlsbad's fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Mission Hills, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Carlsbad will take on Cypress at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mission Hills, they will head out to face off against Rancho Buena Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
