Volleyball Game Preview: Dowling Catholic Maroons vs. Ankeny Hawks

Dowling Catholic is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Ankeny is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Maroons will host the Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Dowling Catholic is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Elkhorn North, who was ranked second in their home state at the time (Dowling Catholic was ranked 13th). The Maroons took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolves on Thursday.

While Dowling Catholic was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Ankeny beat Ankeny Centennial 3-1 on Thursday.

Ankeny had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-23, 28-26, 25-20.

Ankeny's victory bumped their record up to 20-6. As for Dowling Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
