Basketball Recap: Six Straight Road Wins for Orion

Orion won the last time they faced Monmouth-Roseville and things went their way on Friday too. The Orion Chargers were the clear victor by a 69-48 margin over the Monmouth-Roseville Titans. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Titans are ranked 303rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Orion's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyler Owens, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 18 points and eight rebounds. Owens' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Bainbridge, who posted six points along with seven assists and seven boards.

Orion was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Orion pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Monmouth-Roseville, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-5.

Orion wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 76-49 victory against Bureau Valley on the 21st. As for Monmouth-Roseville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-38 win against Monmouth United on the 21st.
