Basketball Recap: Hurley Tigers vs. Jefferson Independent Day Cavaliers

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hurley had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They blew past the Jefferson Independent Day Cavaliers 56-31. The win was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Hurley had a senior duo take command as Jaema Schimmels posted 27 points along with seven rebounds and six assists and Madison Conrad dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Schimmels has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Hayden Young, who put up five points.

Hurley was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Several Cavaliers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Haley Orr, who scored six points.

Hurley's victory bumped their record up to 18-9. As for Jefferson Independent Day, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's still a better percentage than their 5-19 record this season.
