Hebron's Justin Iwuji leads upset of Southlake Carroll; Week 9 huge for receivers.

Week 9 Lone Star of the Week
Justin Iwuji, Carrollton Hebron – Iwuji was the catalyst behind Hebron’s upset of Southlake Carroll, handing the Dragons an uncharacteristic second district loss this season. With the victory, Hebron moved to 4-0 and into the drivers seat in District 6-5A.
Iwuji rushed for 270 yards on 24 carries and added 150 passing yards for Hebron. Iwuji rushed for a 5-yard touchdown run to give Hebron a 13-7 lead in the first quarter. Later, Iwuji hit Phillip Mitchell on a crucial 20-yard touchdown strike to give the Hawks a 30-21 lead in the third quarter.
Iwuji’s 420 total yards may have been overshadowed by teammate Darius Staten’s monster game of 208 yards and four rushing touchdowns in the headlines, but Iwuji’s leadership in a huge win gives the signal caller Lone Star of the Week honors.

Honorable Mention
Kolby Gray, Cypress Falls – Gray completed 21-of-30 passes for 303 yards and three touchdowns as Cypress Falls rolled to a 35-28 win over Cy-Fair. Gray added 189 rushing yards and a touchdown in the victory for Cy Falls.
Marcus Fore/ Ryan Wysocki, Keller Central – In a 47-0 pounding of Grapevine, Fore and Wysocki hooked up with quarterback Dustin Stenta seven times, five of them going for touchdowns. On four receptions, Wysocki tallied 137 receiving yards and three touchdowns while Fore caught three passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
Jacob Karam, Friendswood – Karam, a Texas Tech verbal, set a school record with seven passing touchdowns in a 49-28 win over Brazosport. Karam completed 24-of-36 through the air and finished with 426 passing yards in the victory.
Caleb Lewis, Richardson Pearce – Pearce pounded Greenville 54-14 behind 319 passing yards and five touchdowns from Lewis. Lewis hit Josh Gold and Blake Jumonville twice for scores and finished the contest 16-of-21 through the air. Gold and Jumonville both had 124 receiving yards in the victory.
Joe Mitchell, Morton Ranch – In a 42-24 victory over Katy Taylor, Mitchell totaled 362 yards and three touchdowns. Mitchell rushed for 196 yards and a touchdown and added another 166 through the air on 10-of-17 passing for two touchdowns in the win.
Deante Moore, McKinney North – In a 48-27 victory over Frisco, Moore rushed for 267 yards and five touchdowns. Trailing 27-20 in the second quarter. Moore rushed for touchdowns three and four to lead North to 28 unanswered points.
James Owen, Burleson – Owen rushed for 256 yards on 14 carries and in a 42-28 victory over Fort Worth Paschal. Owen rushed for touchdowns of 68 and 47 yards as Burleson moved to 3-6 on the season to keep its playoff aspirations alive.
Dunston Owens, Dallas Carter – Owens had his way with the North Dallas defense and special teams in a 49-0 rout. Carter remained unbeaten behind 137 rushing yards and two touchdowns on six carries by Owens. Owens also added a 44-yard punt return and a 76-yard kickoff return for touchdowns for the powerful Cowboys.
M.J. Porter, Shoemaker – In a 49-35 win over Ellison, Porter hooked up with quarterback Jameill Showers often. Porter led Shoemaker with 10 receptions for 246 yards and two touchdowns in the victory. Showers finished with 350 passing yards and three touchdown tosses in the win.
Herschel Sims, Abilene – The sophomore sensation continues to be a home run threat for a quick strike offense. Sims rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns and added 139 yards on five receptions in a 48-28 win over Burleson.
Ryan Smith, Everman – Everman, ranked second in 4A, got another huge effort from Smith. In a 54-25 win over Mansfield Timberview, Smith rushed for 220 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries.
Stetson Smith, Euless Trinity – In a 56-19 win over Justin Northwest, Smith made four grabs from quarterback Denarius McGhee that covered 168 yards and three touchdowns. Smith’s damage came in the first half as Trinity took a 28-10 halftime lead.
Bo Snelson, Pasadena Memorial - The stat-stuffing Snelson rolled in a 56-13 victory over South Houston. Snelson rushed for 223 yards and three touchdowns and completed 9-of-10 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown.
Dustin Stenta, Keller Central – Stenta threw for 350 yards on 16-of-23 passing and five touchdowns in a 47-0 win over Grapevine. After a scoreless first quarter, Stenta tallied three in the second quarter as Keller Central took a commanding 27-0 lead into halftime.
Stefan Taylor, Mansfield – Taylor rushed for 270 yards and three touchdowns as Mansfield defeated Arlington Lamar, 49-38. Taylor scored on runs of 7, 57, and 27 yards as Mansfield moved to 5-4 on the campaign and came back from a 14-0 deficit to pick up the win.
Mike Walker, Austin Westlake – In a 42-14 win over Austin High, Walker snagged eight passes for 231 yards and a touchdown to lead the Chaparrals.
Monterrell Washington, Bryan – Washington rushed for 218 yards on 25 carries in a 28-24 win over Harker Heights. Washington scored on a 1-yard touchdown run with his team trailing 24-14 in the fourth quarter to kick-start a comeback victory.
Kenny Williams, Hendrickson – His team trailed 20-0 after the first quarter. Led by the determined running of Williams, Hendrickson came back in a big way for a 34-20 win. Williams rushed for 200 yards and four touchdowns in the win, moving Hendrickson to a 6-3 mark on the season.

1. Euless Trinity (8-0, 5-0, 1) – Defeated Justin Northwest, 56-19.
Denarius McGhee threw for 253 yards and three touchdowns, all going to Stetson Smith. Smith finished with four grabs for 168 yards while sophomore Tevin Williams added 104 yards on the ground and two touchdowns for the Trojans.
2. Galena Park North Shore (6-0, 3-0, 2) – Defeated Baytown Lee, 48-7.
Alton Demby returned two punts for a touchdown to lead the Mustangs. Issac Morris only needed five carries to rush for 87 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Alex Tillman threw for 154 yards and a score. North Shore’s defense held Baytown Lee to minus-28 yards in the first half.
3. Abilene (9-0, 5-0, 3) – Defeated Burleson, 48-28.
Abilene got 276 yards of offense from sophomore Herschel Sims to remain unbeaten. Stephen Warren threw for 219 yards and two scores, while Zach Bass chipped in with 180 rushing yards and a touchdown.
4. Odessa Permian (9-0, 8-0, 5) – Defeated Amarillo Tascosa, 36-8.
After a scoreless first quarter, Permian got going in the second quarter en route to a 15-8 halftime lead. Sherard Ray rushed for 200 yards and a touchdown and Trevor Adams threw for 236 yards and another score for the Panthers.
5. Allen (8-1, 5-0, 5) – Defeated Plano East, 30-14.
Quarterback Matt Brown totaled 367 yards and rushed for three touchdowns in the victory for Allen. Brown rushed for 164 yards and also threw for 203 yards and another score for the Eagles.
6. Pearland (8-0, 6-0, 8) – Defeated Deer Park, 20-9.
Pearland remained unbeaten with a hard-fought win against a previously-unbeaten foe. Kasey Carrier carried the Oilers on his back, rushing for 172 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries.
7. Plano (8-1, 4-1, 10) – Idle.
8. Fort Bend Hightower (7-0, 4-0, NR) – Defeated Dulles, 41-0.
The Hurricanes stormed into the rankings with an impressive performance on Saturday. Darius Johnson and John Parrham both rushed for touchdowns to lead Hightower. Brent Thomas and Lydell Williams both caught touchdown passes to pace Hightower in the victory.
9. Arlington Bowie (8-1, 5-0, NR) – Defeated Arlington Sam Houston, 56-13.
Christian Matthews threw for 184 yards and a touchdown to lead Bowie. Travis Evans rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns playing just one day after his mother passed away.
10. The Woodlands (7-1, 3-1, 6) – Lost to Lufkin, 15-13.
Despite the loss, The Woodlands remained in the Top 10. Andy McCloud threw for 236 yards and two touchdowns in the loss for the Highlanders. Ryan Eastman and Daniel Lasco both caught touchdown passes from McCloud, but The Woodlands were unable to complete the comeback attempt.
