Basketball Recap: Springer Red Devils vs. Logan Longhorns

If Springer was feeling good fresh off their 80-56 takedown of Wagon Mound last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Springer Red Devils were beaten by the Logan Longhorns 88-58 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Longhorns are ranked 24th).

Logan was led to victory by Hayden Bruhn and Mason Wallin. Bruhn dropped a double-double with 29 points and 17 rebounds, while Wallin went 12-for-17 en route to 32 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. The game was Bruhn's sixth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Montoya, who posted two points and four steals.

Springer's defeat dropped their record down to 11-15. As for Logan, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 21-3.

Coming up, Springer will face off against New Mexico School for the Deaf at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Springer knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully New Mexico School for the Deaf likes a good challenge. Logan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
