Basketball Recap: Aditya Pandya's Big Game Can't Quite Lead River Dell over St. Mary

River Dell was the 65-63 winner over St. Mary when they last played one another back in January of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The River Dell Golden Hawks lost to the St. Mary Gaels on the road by a 61-47 margin on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Golden Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while the Gaels are ranked 94th).

Several Golden Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aditya Pandya, who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine boards. Pandya's afternoon made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Pat Sweeny, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 12 points.

River Dell's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for St. Mary, their win bumped their record up to 16-6.

River Dell has already played their next match, a 59-54 victory against Pascack Hills on the 18th. St. Mary does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
