Softball Game Preview: Cadott Hornets vs. Thorp Cardinals

Cadott is 1-8 against Thorp since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. Cadott is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.6 runs per game this season.

Cadott came out on top against Regis last Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Hornets took their contest against the Ramblers 9-4. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Ramblers: they've now won eight in a row.

Rilei Weeks was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Reineke, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cadott kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Thorp posted their closest victory since April 18, 2024 on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Stanley-Boyd 4-3.

Cadott's record is now 4-1. As for Thorp, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Cadott came up short against Thorp when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 11-7. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
