Basketball Game Preview: Kingston Tigers vs. Saugerties Sawyers

The Kingston Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Saugerties Sawyers at 5:45 p.m. on Monday.

Kingston came up short against Pine Bush on Wednesday, falling 55-33. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 354th, while the Bushmen are ranked 14th).

Saugerties fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They strolled past Red Hook with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 42-26.

Saugerties' win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Kingston, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Kingston against Saugerties when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 65-32 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kingston since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
