Aubrey is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Panther Creek just ended the team's ten-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2.
Aubrey actually scored more points across those five sets (104-96), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 14-25, 25-22, 17-25, 15-11.
Meanwhile, Van Alstyne suffered their biggest loss since August 27th on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to Celina. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Panthers haven't been shut out since back in August.
The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-18, 25-16.
Aubrey's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 25-12. As for Van Alstyne, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-17.
Aubrey beat Van Alstyne 3-1 in their previous meeting back in September. The rematch might be a little tougher for Aubrey since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
