Basketball Recap: Eastbrook Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Eastbrook faced off against Bluffton on Thursday. The Eastbrook Panthers were beaten by the Bluffton Tigers 67-29. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Tigers are ranked 44th).

Despite the loss, Eastbrook still got an impressive performance from Mia Bustos, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards. Bustos has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 16 times she's played.

Bluffton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Konley Ault out in front who went 9 of 13 on her way to 20 points. Another player making a difference was Isabella Stout, who went 8 for 14 en route to 19 points.

Eastbrook's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Bluffton, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 19-2.

Eastbrook wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 36-32 victory against Madison-Grant on the 25th. As for Bluffton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 86-22 win against Heritage on the 25th.
