Basketball Recap: Regis Jesuit Sets Scoring Season-High Against Heritage

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Regis Jesuit). They blew past the Heritage Eagles, posting an 83-18 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Raiders, who have now won five contests in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Regis Jesuit to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jane Rumpf, who went 8-for-13 en route to 21 points and eight boards. The match was Rumpf's third in a row with at least 18 points. Mallory Neff was another key player, shooting 4-for-7 from downtown and almost dropping a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds.

Regis Jesuit was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage only posted four assists.

Despite the loss, Heritage saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Addy Buseck posted no points and 13 boards. Buseck has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Lexi Robinson also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Regis Jesuit's record now sits at 16-6. As for Heritage, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Regis Jesuit will take on Rock Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Rock Canyon has won five straight at home, while Regis Jesuit won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Heritage, they will square off against Douglas County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
